Structure of a French IBAN

The French IBAN (27 characters) contains the bank code directly in its structure. It is this code that makes it possible to find the BIC without asking the bank.

FR76 30001 00794 12345 67890 185
FR76 — Country + key 30001 — Bank code 00794 — Branch code 12345678901 — Account number 85 — RIB key
IbanMatch extracts the bank code (positions 5–9) and matches it against the lookup table of French banking institutions to return the exact SWIFT BIC.

Why find BICs in bulk rather than one by one?

Manually entering the BIC for each IBAN in a payroll or client list is slow and error-prone. IbanMatch processes hundreds of IBANs in seconds.

Method IbanMatch (bulk) Manual lookup
100 IBANs to process < 5 seconds 30–60 minutes
Risk of error None Copy/paste, typos
Direct export Excel (.xlsx) Manual re-entry
Invalid IBANs Detected and flagged Go unnoticed
